Oh hey, momma! Are you wondering how to get your child to like reading? It’s no secret that reading is arguably THE MOST fundamental skill a human being can learn (that’s the teacher in me talkin’)! But let’s talk about THE BEST children’s books (my top teacher picks) that you can buy for your kiddos!
The BEST way to get your child to love reading is to engage them using engaging books!
Reading boring books is NOT the way. I have compiled a list of children’s books that my own students CAN’T put down…(seriously, they fight over them). I usually start with fiction books because it’s what interests kids the most. Then, after their comprehension is strong, I move on to the informational texts. But for now, let’s focus on fiction to get those kiddos to LOVE reading!
I taught my daughter how to read when she was 4 years old and I used many of these books to spark her love for reading.
As a teacher mom, it makes me so happy to say she’s always been “above grade level” for reading. It’s a priceless feeling knowing she will have the tool necessary to get her through life.
I always tell my students that reading is their SUPERPOWER!
Think about it…if your child has good reading comprehension, they’ll be able to get through life understanding things (fine print, directions, feedback, etc.) I want my children to be able to use their reading skills to help them get better jobs, teach others, pursue their dreams!
