CALLING ALL HOMESCHOOLING MOMMAS and teachers! Are you teaching your child how to read? Studies show that the BEST way to teach a child is through engaging them in their learning. As a first-grade teacher, I’ve learned a thing or two about helping students learn how to read! These FREE sight word worksheets will help your kiddos learn to read their sight words in a fun way!
These engaging sight word worksheets use color-by-number, search and find, rainbow write, read it, tracing, and even some coloring to help your kids learn how to read their sight words!
One of the most important steps you can take in getting your child to learn how to read is teaching them their sight words. Sight words are common words that kids memorize and when they come across them in a book, they can say “oh, I know this word!” Eventually, they will know enough words to read all five words on a page or a book!
I used my class to experiment on these engaging sight word worksheets. Before landing on these worksheets, I let my students tell me what they like, I observed what frustrated them. Slowly, I developed these sight word worksheets to what they are now, and let me tell you…THEY. CAN’T. GET. ENOUGH!!!
If you’re a homeschooling mom, you can use these to help your kiddos learn their sight words at home by completing a few worksheets per week.
I recommend that you combine these worksheets with other activities to help them learn the same word. For example, you will find the word “that” is the first word attached. You should use other strategies to practice the word “that”.
If you’re a primary teacher, you can use these during centers, and TRUST ME, your kids will love them!
In my classroom, I focus on ONE sight word at a time (so, one worksheet at a time). I want the kids to learn them very well before moving on to the next one! I use them in centers, so my students complete about TWO of these worksheets per week and it’s BY FAR their favorite literacy center!
Until next time!
