Oh hey, friend! Do you ever feel like you have too many tasks but can’t get organized enough to complete any of them?! I’m right there with you! In fact, I was writing in my planner, (find it FREE, down below) and I said to myself “I don’t know what I would do if I weren’t writing all this done”! I instantly decided I need to share this with you!! The best way to stay productive and get stuff done is to write it down. With this free weekly to-do list planner, you can stay productive and hold yourself accountable for the million things you need to do!
I don’t know about you, but I’m a busy mom and teacher. I don’t have too much time on my hands.
Writing my to-do list on a blank piece of paper just doesn’t do the trick for me. It looks like a ginormous list (which instantly overwhelms me). I need to chunk (or group) my tasks so that I can complete them in a timely manner! Otherwise, anxiety kicks in and I just run around like a headless chicken…there, I admit it.
Just like I do when I’m teaching my students, I like to group my tasks so that I am not trying to complete everything at once. It’s really the most effective way for me to get anything done (and I learned this early on in my college years…the hard way)!
If I have a lot of tasks, I group them by similarities. This helps me maximize my time. For example, if two of my tasks are related to cleaning, I group those together. Doing this helps me make sure that the next time I have the chance, I take care of those two household tasks together and knock them out!
Oh here is one that will happen to me a lot! When I have to run some errands on the other side of town, I write those down together. This way, the next time I’m on that side of town, I can make sure to run those two errands. Otherwise, I will get across town, run one of the errands, then be back only to realize I could’ve completed my other errand while I was at it. But, if you’re a busy mom like me, this probably happens to you a lot.
You can find your free planner at the bottom of this post…
…but I also want to share 2 tips to go along with it…
BE REALISTIC: Try to resist the need to complete all of your to-do lists at once or in a short amount of time. It’s important to be realistic with ourselves so that we don’t overwhelm ourselves. Also, you don’t want to set yourself up for disappointment if you aren’t able to meet those unrealistic expectations.
PRIORITIZE YOUR TASKS: It is so important to prioritize. If something is on my to-do list, I feel the urgency to get it done. Honestly, it’s how I keep myself accountable. Think of all the things you need to do and think about which ones have the most priority. Are usually put these first on my to-do list because they are a priority. I’d like to ask myself “ if this doesn’t get done today, is that OK with me”? The answer to that question usually helps me decide whether it’s a priority or not.
